Requesting Information

From those of you who have experience or an opinion... Please feel free to post a reply. Sean and I are looking through possible carrying options. We tend to prefer the top example of a sling, but... I wasn't sure if anyone had any preferences or advice. Of course, I am a little reluctant to pay the 56 dollars for the top Maya brand... couldn't one just make one easily enough???

I'm sure you could make a ring sling very easily. Perhaps you could find some store in your area that stocks them so you could go and look at them in person to get a better idea of what it would involve. Another option is eBay. I'm sure you could find one on there that would be less than the full priced one.

I have two ring slings and LOVE them! Both of them were handmade by a friend so I know they can be made pretty easily. I think she said that the important thing was to get very high quality fabric and *extremely* high quality rings. She got hers from a Boat Supply store! The rings on my ring sling could hold any weight- ha! So I think it is recommended to use rings that you'd find at a place like that and a good fabric and I'm sure there are lots of patterns for slings out there if you just do a quick google search!

And then I just found this pattern so I figured I'd post again and show you. :)

Definitely make one or buy on ebay. I made my Mom's and then she gave it to me when I had Caleb. He's so big he outgrew it fast, but it was great while it lasted. :)

Is this for going out or at home?

I don't have a sling...do you girls who DO like them? (Do your babies?)
I have thoroughly used my Snugli - both around the house and when we're out. Now that I know how much I have used and continue to use it, I wish I had gotten a Baby Bjorn instead.

I have a Snugli too Jen and with my giant children it's actually worked better for me when they were a little older, but I adore my sling while I'm able to use it because I can nurse in it. :)

I had a snugli too but after I got my slings, I stopped using the snugli all together. My girls have liked the sling better because there are many positions in which they can be carried and I can use it for nursing etc. It's been really nice. Plus- it lasts (or has for my kids so far) up through the toddler years! (Up to 35 lbs.)
